2. ### Every client with a balance gets one statement on the day you choose: every matter, every open bill, one total and a link to pay.[Explore statements →](https://www.paidnice.com/automated-customer-statements)
3. ### Paidnice adds the interest or late fee your engagement letter allows, on the schedule you set. Long-standing clients can be exempt.[Explore late fees →](https://www.paidnice.com/late-fees)
4. ### Paidnice reads each client reply, logs the promise or the question and drafts the next step. Your billing team approves each draft before it is sent.[Explore reply handling →](https://www.paidnice.com/ai-accounts-receivable)
5. ### When reminders stop working, the responsible partner gets a call, letter or stop credit task, with the balance and full payment history attached.[Explore escalations →](https://www.paidnice.com/escalations)
6. ### Clients see every open bill across their matters and pay by card or bank, or split an invoice into a payment plan. No login needed.[Explore the portal →](https://www.paidnice.com/customer-payment-portal)

## Built for how law firms get paid

### Partners never have to chase their own clients.

Reminders go out on the schedule you set, so a partner steps in only when a bill is seriously overdue.

- Email and text reminders
- Sent from accounts@ at your firm's own domain
- Named partner step for seriously overdue bills

### Overdue fees earn the interest your engagement letter allows.

Interest accrues on each client's whole overdue balance at the rate you set.

- Recalculated when the statement sends
- Set per client group
- Long-standing clients can stay exempt

UK firms carry an average lock-up of 134 days ([Law Society and Hazlewoods, 2026](https://communities.lawsociety.org.uk/law-management-news/financial-benchmarking-survey-2026/6003533.article)).

### Large fee bills paid in installments clients can keep up with.

Split a large fee invoice into installments, and Paidnice reminds the client before each one is due.

- You set the limits on every plan
- Saved card or bank charged when Stripe is connected
- A missed installment is chased like any bill

## Know what is coming in, and who to call first

Paidnice turns your ledger into answers: the fee bills due this week, the clients who pay late and the matters a partner should call about.

- Expected payments, week by week, from your ledger
- A credit score for every customer, from how they pay
- Aged receivables for each customer, at a glance
- A weekly report emailed to your team

## Keep the practice management system your team already runs

Keep billing from your practice management system exactly as you do now. Once its invoices sync to Xero or QuickBooks Online, Paidnice picks them up and runs the rest.

- **Invoices sync over**Each invoice your practice management system pushes to Xero or QuickBooks Online reaches Paidnice with its customer, amount and due date.
- **Nothing to re-enter**No import, no second ledger and no new invoicing tool. Paidnice works from the invoices already in your accounting.
- **Payments land back**Payments taken through Paidnice are recorded against the invoice in your ledger, so your books stay current.

> It’s the debt collection system I’ve been looking for, for the last 15 years.

## How it works for law firms

Does Paidnice work with Clio?
Yes, law firms that bill through Clio are a strong fit. Clio syncs invoices one way into Xero or QuickBooks, and Paidnice chases them from the ledger. Actionstep and PracticePanther work the same way. Some systems, like LEAP and Smokeball, send summary totals only, so their invoices never reach the ledger and there is nothing for Paidnice to chase.

Can a law firm charge late fees or interest on unpaid invoices?
Law firms can charge interest on overdue fees where the engagement letter provides for it and state rules allow it. Paidnice applies the rate you set to the client groups you choose and shows the interest on the invoice and statement. Whether to charge, and how much, stays your call under your engagement letter and your state's rules.

Can a partner approve everything before it sends?
Law firms can keep a partner's eyes on every send. Each reminder, statement and interest charge has an approval step, so nothing reaches a client until someone at the firm has approved it. Once the wording and timing have earned trust, switch any policy to fully automatic.

Can a client pay a large fee bill in installments?
Law firms can split an approved fee invoice into a payment plan with dated installments. A missed installment makes the invoice overdue again, so reminders and interest resume on their own. With Stripe connected, each installment is charged on its date.

Does Paidnice touch the trust account?
No, a law firm's trust and IOLTA balances never enter Paidnice. It connects to Xero or QuickBooks and only sees the operating receivables, the fee invoices you have already issued. Trust money stays wherever your practice management system keeps it and never appears on a reminder, statement, or payment page.

What happens when a client disputes the fees on one matter?
Law firms keep collecting on every other matter while one fee dispute runs. Take the disputed invoice out of the policy by its reference, and reminders, statements and interest keep running on the client's other matters. When the dispute resolves, put the invoice back and the policy picks it up again.

What does Paidnice cost for law firms?
Law firms pay for Paidnice by invoice volume, not revenue. Essentials starts at US$69, £49 or A$99 a month, with no contracts. Signing up is free and your first 20 actions are free, so you can run it on your real aging report before paying anything.

## Stop letting billed fees sit unpaid at 60 and 90 days.

Connect Xero or QuickBooks and Paidnice prepares draft policies for you. Nothing runs until you approve them.
