Satago alternatives for small businesses: chasing, credit checks and invoice finance compared

Contents

Satago alternatives split by job: Satago bundles chasing, credit checks and invoice finance from £45 a month (about $59), or £25 inside Sage 50. Credit Hound, Chaser, Paidnice, Kolleno and Upflow each cover one or two of those jobs.

Key takeaways

  • Satago for Business costs £45, £80 or £200 a month standalone (about $59, $104 or $260), or £450, £800 and £2,000 a year (Satago pricing page).
  • Inside Sage 50 the same product is £25 (Standard) or £45 (Plus) a month, and Plus is included free with eligible Sage 50 subscriptions.
  • Of the six tools compared here, Satago alone bundles chasing, credit checks and invoice finance. Every alternative covers chasing, and some add credit checks; none adds invoice finance.
  • Entry prices for the alternatives run from £20 a user (Credit Hound on Sage 50) to $650 a user (Kolleno). Paidnice starts at $69 or £49 a month, priced by invoice volume.
  • Prices checked September 2026; confirm current pricing with the vendor.

The best Satago alternatives by job

Satago charges £45 to £200 a month for three jobs in one subscription. The five alternatives below are grouped by the job a buyer is trying to replace: invoice chasing, credit risk checks, then invoice finance.

JobWhat Satago includesAlternatives on this page
Invoice chasingReminder emails and schedules on every tier; 100 emails a month on Basic, unlimited from PremiumCredit Hound, Chaser, Paidnice, Upflow
Credit risk checksCredit scores and limit suggestions on every tier; 25, 100 or unlimited full reports (3 or 25 a year inside Sage 50)Chaser, Kolleno
Invoice financeCash advance on one invoice or several, on every tier; advance cost not on the pricing pageNone: a separate invoice finance provider is needed

Invoice finance is the job no software alternative covers. A business that wants funding against invoices keeps Satago, or pairs a chasing tool with a separate invoice finance provider. The five options below are ordered by job, with the chasing tools first.

Credit Hound: best for Sage 50 sites with a dedicated credit controller

  • Fits: UK Sage sites that want structured chasing, dispute logging and promise-to-pay tracking inside the Sage reseller channel.
  • Entry cost: £20 a user a month on Sage 50 (about $26), £216 a year; £51 for the first user on Xero or Sage 200 (about $66), then £35 each (Credit Hound pricing page).
  • Pricing unit: Per user, per company.
  • Runs on: Sage 50, Sage 200, Sage Intacct, Sage Accounting and Xero. No QuickBooks Online connector.
  • Late fees and interest: None documented.
  • The one thing it does best: Dispute management with follow-up reminders and a promised-cash view.
  • Limitation: No credit reports, no invoice finance, no statements documented, and payment links cost £38 a month extra.

Chaser: best for UK teams past £4m that want credit checks with chasing

  • Fits: Established UK finance teams that want email, SMS and credit checks from one supplier.
  • Entry cost: £199 a month (about $259) on Compact, for businesses up to £4m revenue; Core £599 (about $779) to £10m (Chaser pricing page).
  • Pricing unit: Per plan, by revenue band; Compact has 4 users.
  • Runs on: Xero, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Sage 200, Sage Intacct, NetSuite and Dynamics 365.
  • Late fees and interest: Yes, including a Bank of England base rate option; one global rule for every customer.
  • The one thing it does best: In-app credit reports from Creditsafe with Companies House director and filing data, plus continuous monitoring.
  • Limitation: The entry price is more than four times Satago Basic, and there is no invoice finance. Tiers and add-ons in Chaser pricing and alternatives.

Paidnice: best for $1m to $20m businesses on Xero or QuickBooks Online

  • Fits: Finance teams that want reminders, statements, payment plans and escalation, with late fees as an optional lever.
  • Entry cost: $69 or £49 a month (Essentials, 150 invoices, 2 users); Pro from $99 or £74 with unlimited users (Paidnice pricing page).
  • Pricing unit: Invoice volume, not revenue or seats.
  • Runs on: Xero and QuickBooks Online; NetSuite, Sage Intacct, MYOB and Dynamics 365 Business Central on the Custom plan.
  • Late fees and interest: Yes, per-invoice late fees and statement interest, with Bank of England base rate indexing for UK accounts.
  • The one thing it does best: Posts the late fee or interest to the ledger as an invoice, so it enters the customer's payables and payment run.
  • Limitation: No credit bureau reports and no invoice finance. Scope differences in the Satago alternative page.

Kolleno: best for larger finance teams with reconciliation work

  • Fits: Teams above $10m turnover that need cash application and bureau-fed credit scoring alongside chasing.
  • Entry cost: $650 per user a month, or $545 a month on an annual contract; Business Plus $1,245 ($995 annual) (Kolleno pricing page).
  • Pricing unit: Per user, minimum one seat on BusinessPay, two on Business Plus.
  • Runs on: Xero, QuickBooks Online and Sage Intacct on the Business tiers; NetSuite, SAP and Dynamics on Enterprise.
  • Late fees and interest: None documented.
  • The one thing it does best: Cash application: remittance parsing, bank-file matching and multi-currency journal entries.
  • Limitation: Per-user pricing means five seats cost $3,250 a month before add-ons. Seat maths in Kolleno pricing and alternatives.

Upflow: best for analytics-led finance teams invoicing $10m or more

  • Fits: Teams that want DSO and collection analytics on top of reminder workflows, with unlimited seats.
  • Entry cost: Last published list prices $440 a month (Grow) and $880 (Scale); every tier is quote-only today, by annual invoiced value (Upflow pricing page).

  • Runs on: QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Stripe Billing, Chargebee and Zuora.
  • Late fees and interest: Via the ERP only (NetSuite); no native calculation.
  • The one thing it does best: Receivables analytics, including DSO against a best-possible DSO and cohort cash forecasting.
  • Limitation: No published price, no payment plans and light credit scoring only. Detail in Upflow pricing and alternatives.

Satago pricing by tier

Satago publishes two price lists: the standalone app at £45 to £200 a month, and the Sage 50 embedded version at £25 to £45 a month. Which applies depends on whether you run Sage 50.

PlanMonthlyAnnualIncludedCapped or gated

Prices are from the Satago pricing page and the Satago Sage 50 embedded pricing page. Satago bills in GBP; USD figures are approximate. Every tier carries the same three jobs, so the tier you pick mostly changes the quotas: credit report count, SMS allowance and, on Basic, a 100-email cap.

What drives the Satago bill

Satago prices per company, from £45 (Basic) to £200 (Platinum) standalone, or £25 to £45 inside Sage 50. The bill moves on credit report quota, SMS allowance and billing frequency.

  1. The pricing unit is the company. The Sage 50 tiers state unlimited users. The standalone page does not state a user cap either way (Satago pricing page).
  2. Standalone or embedded. A Sage 50 customer pays £25 or £45 a month; everyone else starts at £45 and goes to £200.
  3. Credit report quota. Basic includes 25 reports, Premium 100, Platinum unlimited. Inside Sage 50 the counts are 3 or 25 full reports a year. This is the number that decides your tier.
  4. SMS allowance. Basic states no SMS. Premium includes 100 SMS a month and Platinum 1,000. Overage pricing is not published.
  5. Annual billing. Standalone annual prices are ten times the monthly price, so a year paid up front saves two months. No annual price is published for the Sage 50 tiers.
  6. Invoice finance is separate. Access to a cash advance is included in every tier; the cost of an advance is not on the pricing page.

No free trial, minimum term or VAT treatment is stated on either pricing page.

Worked annual cost for three business sizes

Satago costs a small firm on Basic £540 a year billed monthly or £450 annually. A mid-sized firm on Premium pays £960 or £800. A larger firm on Platinum pays £2,400 or £2,000.

Business A: about £1m turnover, 60 invoices a month, occasional credit checks. Basic covers 25 credit reports and 100 email reminders a month; a two-email chase on 60 invoices is 120 reminders, so the cap is tight. £45 x 12 = £540 a year (about $702) monthly, or £450 (about $585) paid annually.

Business B: about £5m turnover, 250 invoices a month, credit checks on new accounts, some SMS. Premium removes the email cap and adds 100 SMS and 100 credit reports. £80 x 12 = £960 a year (about $1,248) monthly, or £800 (about $1,040) annually.

Business C: about £15m turnover, 800 invoices a month, credit checks on every account, SMS in every sequence. Platinum for unlimited reports and 1,000 SMS. £200 x 12 = £2,400 a year (about $3,120) monthly, or £2,000 (about $2,600) annually.

BusinessStandalone tierAnnual, billed monthlyAnnual, paid up frontSage 50 route
A: £1m, 60 invoices/monthBasic£540 (about $702)£450 (about $585)Standard £300, or Plus £540 / £0 included
B: £5m, 250 invoices/monthPremium£960 (about $1,248)£800 (about $1,040)Plus £540 / £0 included, 25 reports a year
C: £15m, 800 invoices/monthPlatinum£2,400 (about $3,120)£2,000 (about $2,600)Plus £540 / £0 included, 25 reports a year

On Sage 50, Standard is £25 x 12 = £300 a year and Plus is £45 x 12 = £540, or £0 with included Plus; the trade-off is 3 or 25 full reports a year. The arithmetic excludes VAT, SMS overage and invoice finance charges. For the wider market, see what credit control software costs.

Is Satago worth the price

Satago is good value for a UK business using all three jobs, since Basic costs £45 a month (about $59) whether or not the credit checks and invoice finance get used. A chasing-only business pays for two jobs it will not run.

FitsOverpays
UK businesses on Xero, Sage 50, QuickBooks, KashFlow or FreeAgent that credit check new customers and want to fund an invoice from the same screen.A business that never runs a credit report and never borrows against invoices, using a three-job bundle for one job.

Before buying, ask Satago for the minimum term, the SMS overage rate, the cost of an advance, and whether your Sage 50 subscription qualifies for included Plus. None of the four is on the pricing page.

How Paidnice prices chasing and statements

Paidnice charges by invoice volume, not revenue or seats, against Satago's per-company tiers. Essentials is $69 a month (£49) for 150 invoices and two users. Pro starts at $99 (£74) for 300 invoices with unlimited users.

  • Essentials: $69 / £49 a month, 150 invoices, 600 emails, 2 team members, escalation workflows and SMS reminders included.
  • Pro 300: $99 / £74. Pro 600: $179 / £129. Pro 1,000: $279 / £199. Pro 2,000: $489 / £349. All Pro tiers include unlimited users and custom-domain sending.
  • Custom from $999 / £749 for 4,000+ invoices, with ERP and payment integrations, invoice API access and a dedicated account manager.
  • Add-ons: multi-entity $29 / £19 per entity a month; SMS $0.10 / £0.05 each. No contracts and no lock-ins.

Business B above, at 250 invoices a month, lands on Pro 300: $99 x 12 = $1,188 a year (£888). Business C at 800 invoices lands on Pro 1,000: $279 x 12 = $3,348 a year (£2,388). Both include unlimited users, automatic statements, payment plans and optional automatic late fees and interest.

Reminders and statements are a full use case on their own. Late fees and interest are optional, and where they are on they act as leverage: the fee sits on the ledger as an invoice, so it enters the customer's payables and their payment run.

💡 Paidnice insight

The first 20 actions are free, with no time limit and no credit card, so a finance team can run a real chase sequence on live Xero or QuickBooks Online invoices before paying anything. Paidnice picks up invoices that were already open at connection as well as invoices raised after setup.

What Paidnice does not do: credit bureau reports and invoice finance. A business that needs those from one supplier should weigh Satago, or Chaser for credit checks without finance.

Satago pricing and alternatives questions

Satago's £45 entry price is the figure most buyers start from. Short answers to the questions that follow it.

How much does Satago cost per month?

£45 (Basic), £80 (Premium) or £200 (Platinum) a month standalone, about $59, $104 and $260. Inside Sage 50 it is £25 (Standard) or £45 (Plus), and Plus is included free with eligible Sage 50 subscriptions (Satago pricing pages).

Does Satago have a free plan or free trial?

No free plan or free trial is stated on the standalone pricing page. The only £0 route is the included Plus tier for eligible Sage 50 subscriptions, and Satago does not publish which subscriptions qualify; a Sage account manager confirms eligibility.

Is Satago priced per user?

No. Satago prices per company by tier. The Sage 50 tiers state unlimited users. The standalone page does not publish a user limit, so confirm with Satago if you have a large team.

What is the best Satago alternative for invoice chasing?

It depends on the ledger. Credit Hound at £20 a user fits Sage 50 sites, Chaser at £199 a month fits UK teams that also want credit checks, and Paidnice from $69 or £49 fits Xero and QuickBooks Online businesses that want statements and optional late fees with the chasing.

Is there a Satago alternative that includes invoice finance?

Not among the tools on this page. Satago bundles chasing, credit checks and invoice finance in one tool; every alternative here covers chasing, with credit checks on Chaser and Kolleno, so funding needs a separate invoice finance provider.
